Ponca City Welfare Society began assisting Ponca City residents in the year 1919, providing those in need with coal oil and live chickens out of a small home just north of downtown Ponca City. Now known as New Emergency Resource Agency (NERA), a lot has changed in the last 100 years, but the community is still in need of food resources.
As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, most donations are tax-deductible. While all donations are absolutely appreciated and utilized, monetary donations simply go further. NERA, being affiliated with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, is able to purchase food for pennies on the dollar. With every $1 donation, NERA is able to provide five entire meals to someone in need.
