Thirty years of service is something to be very proud of and we continue to celebrate Tom's service to our organization! This week the NERA Board of Directors presented Executive Director Tom Short with an Excellence in Service Award for his service to NERA. Tom reached the 30 year mark in April.
In presenting the award to Tom, President Erin Liberton provided special remarks complimenting Tom's service and servant leadership. Liberton said, "it’s been said that a person’s most useful asset is not a head full of knowledge, but a heart full of love, an ear ready to listen, and a hand willing to help others. Tom undoubtedly extends that hand out willing to help others in times of need. On April 15, 2021, Tom celebrated 30 years of service to the New Emergency Resource Agency. In 30 years, a lot has changed at NERA...but you know what has not changed—Tom Short. Tom has continued, fighting the good fight to ensure the people of northern Oklahoma have the resources that they need.
Recently, a Ponca City citizen said this which depicts Tom’s service very well, “Tom Short is and has been one of the most important men in this community for decades. Medical workers save lives. Paramedics and firefighters save lives. Police officers save lives. And those who find a way to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and console the depressed save lives as well. Tom Short saves lives. Thank you, Tom!
